From now through June 14th, 50% of the proceeds from the sale of Indigo Incite, will be sent to the American Red Cross to support tornado relief efforts. Please spread the word. Every little bit helps to those in need!
Unless you live within the direct vicinity of the tornado damage in Oklahoma, we sit back and see the terrible aftermath and destruction on T.V. and are horrified by the damage and loss.
So thankful that my own home and family are safe, I feel for the families whose lives have forever been affected. My grandmother grew up in Oklahoma, and I remember the stories that she told as I was growing up, stories of her summertime youth, spending evenings in the storm shelter. I can imagine the fear not only for the child sitting out the evening in the shelter, but for the parent who feels the weight of responsibility to keep their child safe. Among all of the images on T.V., the part that I think about the most are the teachers and students who braved the storm together, and especially for those students who didn’t make it out to return home to their families. As a former teacher, I know that I would have done everything to keep my students safe, and I admire all of the teachers who put their students’ safety as their only priority. As a parent, I can’t imagine the fear of not being able to get to my children in the storm and not knowing if they were safe. That is not a fear any parent should ever have to face.
Now that the storm victims are faced with the overwhelming task of piecing their lives back together, I know that they are grateful for any help they can get. I am thankful that we have an organization like the American Red Cross, to assist those in need, and I know that they are appreciative and in need of any and all donations that they can get.
