50% of the proceeds from Indigo Incite will be donated to the American Red Cross

From now through June 14th, 50% of the proceeds from the sale of Indigo Incite, will be sent to the American Red Cross to support tornado relief efforts. Please spread the word. Every little bit helps to those in need!

Unless you live within the direct vicinity of the tornado damage in Oklahoma, we sit back and see the terrible aftermath and destruction on T.V.  and are horrified by the damage and loss.

So thankful that my own home and family are safe, I feel for the families whose lives have forever been affected. My grandmother grew up in Oklahoma, and I remember the stories that she told as I was growing up, stories of her summertime youth, spending evenings in the storm shelter. I can imagine the fear not only for the child sitting out the evening in the shelter, but for the parent who feels the weight of responsibility to keep their child safe.  Among all of the images on T.V., the part that I think about the most are the teachers and students who braved the storm together, and especially for those students who didn’t make it out to return home to their families. As a former teacher, I know that I would have done everything to keep my students safe, and I admire all of the teachers who put their students’ safety as their only priority. As a parent, I can’t imagine the fear of not being able to get to my children in the storm and not knowing if they were safe. That is not a fear any parent should ever have to face.

Now that the storm victims are faced with the overwhelming task of piecing their lives back together, I know that they are grateful for any help they can get. I am thankful that we have an organization like the American Red Cross, to assist those in need, and I know that they are appreciative and in need of any and all donations that they can get.

A download of Indigo Incite may be purchased from Amazon, Smashwords, or the iBookstore.

Happy Mother’s Day!

On this Mother’s Day, when I am on the verge of achieving a dream long in the making, I am so excited that Indigo Incite, my debut novel, is about to be published and shared for anyone who wishes to read it. It’s been a dream, long time coming, and for that I can thank my mother and my grandmother for helping to make my dream become a reality. My mother has always encouraged me to reach for my dreams, and because of that, it has never occurred to me that I couldn’t do anything that I set my mind to. My grandmother, with her inspirational wisdom, gave me the idea to write a story, many years ago, about Indigo Children. Thanks to these two wonderful women in my life, Indigo Incite has now become a reality.

From the time I could pick up a pencil and write, I knew that I had to be a writer. When I was in second grade, my mother used to bring me to work with her, on the weekends (back in the day when it was no big deal). She gave me a blank journal and colored pencils, and during that time while I sat at her work, I began to create and illustrate stories. My love for writing was born with that journal and has continued to grow and flourish.

It has been said that you know your true passion and meaning in life when you find something to do and suddenly, in that moment, you lose all sense of time. That is where I find myself in writing. When I write, there is no such thing as time (except when my kids remind me that I should probably cook dinner).  I have found my true passion in life in writing. That is my hope and dream for my children. On this mother’s day and always, I dream that they follow their true inner calling. In doing so, they will find happiness. That’s all a mother could ever wish for, for her children.

Thank you for visiting my new blog! I only had the other blog for a week, but I wasn’t happy with it. I always say, if something doesn’t seem right, you have to follow your instincts. Don’t stick with something that doesn’t make you happy. That rule can be applied to just about any part of your life! This blog is much more user friendly, and I hope you like it too! Go ahead and click on the subscribe link, on the right, if you would like to get emailed updates of the blog. I have 2 excerpts from my upcoming Ebook, Indigo Incite, posted. If you haven’t read them yet, they are a good teaser until you get the chance to read the book in its entirety. Watch for a third excerpt to post before the release date on May 14th!
